On 3rd April 2009, the Office of Research and Partnership Development held a farewell party for such a volunteer, Mr. Hugh Paterson, before he returned to his country.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hong Son, Vice Rector, thanked Mr. Paterson for his positive contribution during his time at the university, and also expressed the hope that the university would continue to receive hisupport.

After nearly one year working at Office of Research and Partnership Developmentas a volunteer from The Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development (AYAD) Program, Mr. Paterson supported the department in seeking partnership and developing international projects and scholarship foundations.

Mr. Paterson said “I like the working environment here at the University of Economics and Business. If possible, I’d like to continue my work here in the future...”

Besides Mr. Paterson, other Australian volunteers had joined The Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development (AYAD) Program and helped the University of Economics and Business in its international cooperation activities. They were all active, sympathetic and experienced volunteers, such as Miss. Yvonne Overhollenzer. They were young, enthusiastic, intelligent and professional. Apart from working hard in the office, they often participated in football and joined the "English Club" to help the university’s staff and students to improve their English proficiency.

Every year, the University of Economics and Business, VNU receives about 30 foreigners coming to work and to lecture. In the coming years, the University of Economics and Business will continue to receive more international expert volunteers. The collaborators and experts will constitute strong resources for positive contributions to the university’s structure and development.
