UEB’s delegation to attend the conference of Achieving Research Excellence within ASEAN and Indian Universities

From 27th to 30th January 2019, the delegation of lecturers and students of VNU University of Economics and Business attended the Conference of Achieving Research Excellence within ASEAN and Indian Universities at Jindal Global University, India (JGU).


The delegation from UEB comprised 10 members, led by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu - Vice Rector.

The conference is solemnly held in the JGU campus, a modern and comfortable campus 50km from the center of New Delhi. The conference attracted the attendance and presentation of 24 representatives from over 14 universities of Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Thailand, Bangladesh, UAE, Bhutan, India, Vietnam, USA, Norway, Australia, Czech Republic, United Kingdom. The delegation from Vietnam came from Vietnam National University, Hanoi; National Economics University, FPT University.

The conference was divided into 3 sessions. The first session focus on achieving research excellence in training institutions in Asia and India. The second session had 8 presentations from representatives of Asia and Europe, sharing the approach to research funding and academic exchange among universities and businesses. The third session focused on creating the environment and supporting mechanism for research, which comprised 15 presentations, including the research presented by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu - Vice Rector of the UEB.

In her presentation, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu briefly introduced the VNU University of Economics and Business - one of the leading higher education institutions in Vietnam. The presentation gave an overview of UEB’s orientation for research and training. She also talked about the mechanism to support research groups, promoting transfer of research products and the achievements of the research groups in UEB.

After the conference, UEB’s delegation had a cultural exchange with students from other universities. At the exchange, UEB’s students gave a performance with Vietnamese traditional custom, peach blossom and lucky money, which gave the audience a clear visual impression of Vietnamese culture.

 

On the second day of the event, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu representing UEB to sign the MOU with Jindal Global University, which creates opportunities of attending top-up programs for UEB’s students. The students of these programs will receive degrees from Jindal Global University. In 2018, the two universities also signed the MOU on student exchange programs, accordingly, the students will have chance to learn at partner university in 1 or 2 semesters with transferable credits.

 

On the sidelines of the event, the delegation from UEB had time to discuss with leaders from prestigious universities in the region and in the world, creating many opportunities for cooperation and student exchange.
