Strengthen strategic partnership with Japanese universities

From 23rd April to 28th April 2018, Rector of VNU University of Economics and Business - Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Truc Le had a working trip in Japan to promote the partnership with Yokohama National University and Kyoto University.


Enhance partnership with Yokohama National University

The partnership between VNU University of Economics and Business and National University of Yokohama was set up in 2013. Over the past 5 years, the partnership was fostered with numerous of student and lecturer exchanges.

In the working trip, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Truc Le had meetings with leaders of NUY: Mr Yuichi Hasebe - President of NUY and Mr. Nakamura Fumihiko - Vice President in charge of international partnership.

The meeting focused on cooperation activities between the two sides and how to strengthen the partnership in various other aspects.

In particular, the two sides will speed up the process of credit acknowledgement to create favorable conditions for exchange students as well as promote student exchange activities. At present, the exchanges are well organized but both sides expected to increase the number of cooperative activities so that students have more chances to join.

In addition, both universities agreed to further promote the network for lecturers to join international training courses at partner universities. This is a great chance for the lecturers to improve knowledge, teaching methods and strengthen cooperation between two universities.

Regarding research, both universities agreed to cooperate in joint research and publish research on journal of ISI/Scopus.

Promote cooperation with Kyoto University

The year 2013 marked the establishment of cooperation between the UEB and Kyoto University when the two sides signed the memorandum of understanding. Kyoto University is a leading public university in Japan. The university has approximately 22 thousands students and possesses the leading research center in Japan with 6 Nobel prizes and medals in various fields.

At the meeting, leaders of Kyoto University - Dr. Yoshinori Hara and Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Truc Le discussed the strengths and potential cooperation activities in the future. In particular, the two universities will renew the MOU on student exchange and credit exchange between two sides. Especially, the Articulation program promises to be beneficial for both universities and bring more chances of academic and culture exchange.

Regarding research, both universities agreed to cooperate in research, exchange of lecturers and visiting professor etc. This will create firm foundation for long-term partnership between two universities in training and research.
