The UEB promotes cooperative activities with Virginia Polytechnic Institute, USA

Following the visit in December 2016, on 15th March, 2017, representatives of Virginia Polytechnic Institute, USA (Virginia Tech) had a meeting with leaders of VNU University of Economics and Business to discuss cooperative activities with the University.


Attending the meeting, there were Dr. Donald R. Back - Director of International Cooperation and Ms. Patricia Parera - Deputy Director of the Language and Culture Institute. From the UEB, there were Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu - Vice Rector, Dr. Dinh Thi Thanh Van - Vice Dean of Faculty of Finance and Banking, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Viet Khoi - Vice Dean of Faculty of International Business and Economics, Dr. Hoang Thi Bao Thoa - Director of Center for International Training and Education.

On behalf of the UEB, Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu welcomed representatives of Virginia Tech to visit and discuss with the UEB. After the meeting in December 2016, the two sides have agreed on the cooperative activities and plans for the signing of the cooperation agreement.

In the soonest time, the two universities are expected to carry out student/lecturer exchange activities. Accordingly, students of the UEB and Virginia Tech will have the opportunity to study 1-2 semesters at partner university with credits to be acknowledged after completion. In addition, plans for student exchange activities, which will create an international exchange environment as well as opportunities for students of two universities to practice were also developed. This activity may be organized in the form of “study tour”, which may be designed upon request of the partner university.

At the meeting, representatives of the UEB and Virginia Tech also discussed joint training programs, mentioning possible cooperation in 2+2 or 3+1 training models for undergraduate and 1+1 model for master programs. The cooperative activities are expected to start by early 2018.
