CEDS - Opportnities for domestic and foreign interns

A professional and dynamic working environment together with networking opportunities and practical experiences are attractive points for domestic and foreign interns at Center for Economic Development Studies, VNU University of Economics and Business (UEB).


Each year, Center for Economic Development Studies (CEDS) provides many opportunities for domestic and foreign interns. With its large and tight networks as well as interesting professional working fields, interns can have useful practical experiences.

Interns can challenge themselves in many tasks on two fields: Educational Finance and Social Enterprises, join in projects, programs, fieldtrips, help to organize events or conduct their internship in Thriive Hanoi businesses.

Center for Economic Development Studies (CEDS) operate through a flexible model with large networks of domestic and foreign freelancers including many experts, professors and managers working in various field.

Until now, CEDS guaranteed its prestige and research ability on two fields: Educational Finace and Social Enterprises. The main partners of CEDS are World Bank, BTC (Belgium Kingdom), University of Northampton (United Kingdom), Kobe University (Japan).

CEDS is also the partner of Thriive US and implemented Thriive Hanoi program which provides free-interest loan for small and medium enterprises to invest in production machinery then grow up and create new jobs. Loans will be paid within  2-year period by conducting free training courses and giving their own products or services for vulnerable community.

In the first days of 2015, CEDS welcomed and assisted 12 students of master programs in Business, Engineering, Sustainable Economic Development, Agriculture and IT majors at Sydney Business School to do their internship at 3 Thriive businesses.

CEDS also helped 2 Spanish students of ESADE Business School to finish their internships from June to September 2015. In the beginning of 2016, Lelio Adriano - RMIT University, Hanoi, had conducted his internship in the field of social enterprises for 3 months.

From August 2016 until the beginning of January 2017, Ms. Allison Sheehan, a student at the Glocal MA Community Development Studies Program at The Hebrew University, Jerusalem, will conduct her internship on consulting and assisting for Thriive businesses. She will also join in developing social impact measurement tool for the Vietnamese context. This tool will help to evaluate the impact of social works of businesses within the Thriive network as well as other social organizations.

Recently, Ms. Allison Sheehan, with representatives of Thriive Hanoi participated and had interviews with business owners, local partners and trainees in the closing ceremony of the basic sewing training course for poor ethnic women - a repayment for Thriive loan granted to Craft2Inspire at Thuan Hoa Social Protection Centre, Ban Lac 2, Mai Chau, Hoa Binh.

Over time, during its operation, CEDS also welcomed and provided internship opportunities for many students of Vietnam National University, Hanoi as well as other universities.
