The first course of corporate governance training given to leaders of Vietnam commercial banks

On 13th April 2015, within the framework of the project “Enhancing Capacity of Corporate Governance for Vietnam commercial Banks”, the opening ceremony of the first course for leaders of commercial banks was held.


The project is implemented by the UEB, collaboration with the Business School of Sydney University (Australia), funded by the World Bank and the Australian Agency for International Development (AUSAID), aiming at enhancing capacity of corporate governance for Vietnam commercial banks that complies with international standards.

T
he project has 3 main components: training, consultation and research. The training component is designed in 3 modules for 5 days: online training, interactive TV training with foreign specialists and class training with UEB lecturers and senior specialists in the banking and financial area of Vietnam. This is the first course of the training component.

Attending the ceremony, there were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son - Rector of UEB, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Thi Thanh Tu - Head of project consultative group, Associate Dean of Faculty of Finance and Banking together with members of project consultative group, faculty and 28 learners being leaders of commercial banks: BIDV, Vietcombank, Vietinbank, Military Bank, Ocean Bank, Techcombank, GP Bank and Deposit Insurance of Vietnam.

The course will take place over two days, 13th and 14th April at the International Conference Hall of VNU University of Economics and Business. Lecturers of the course are senior and experienced faculty of the UEB, New York University (USA), the World Bank and Deposit Insurance of Vietnam.

The course will equip learners with updated knowledge and practical implementation of: principles of corporate governance in compliance with international standards, experiences of corporate governance in banks, review of corporate governance practice in Vietnam commercial banks and so on. Learners will also have chance to practice reviewing corporate governance in banks according to international standards through group work assignment.

Within the training component of the project, the next two courses will take place on 16th - 17th and 22nd - 23rd April 2015 at VDIC Central Office, Headquarters of the World Bank in Vietnam (No. 63, Ly Thai To Str., Hoan Kiem Dist., Hanoi).
