11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis

- The thesis has systemized and clarified the theoretical basis of the export competitiveness of the software industry in which the thesis has clarified the concepts of the software industry and its specific features, export competition, competitiveness, export competiveness of software industry.

- Based on the national competitiveness approach, the thesis has determined 6 criteria for the assessment of the export competitiveness of software industry. The criteria include: software export revenue, participation in International Market- PIM, Reveal Comparative Advantage- RCA, the productivity of software industry, the price and quality of the software products and services, and the Global Services Location Index- GSLI. The thesis has also determined the 6 factors affecting the export competiveness of software industry. The factors include: the capacity of the software companies, government policies, human resources in software industry, IT infrastructure, FDI in software industry, and the support and relative industries. The main features of such factors have been determined and applied for Vietnam.

- The thesis has drawn the lessons from the experiences of improving the export competitiveness of the software industry of some software leading exporters such as India, China and the Philippines.

- The thesis uses the multiple regression model to analyze the impacts of 4 core determinant factors to export competitiveness of the software industry in Vietnam. The main core determinant factors in the model ranked based on their importance are the capacity of software enterprises, human resources in software industry, IT infrastructures, and the FDI in software industry.

- The thesis has analyzed the export competitiveness of the software industry of Vietnam and analyzing factors affecting the export competitiveness of the software industry in Vietnam in term of both qualitative and quantitative extent. Based on that, the thesis has analyzed the strengths and the weaknesses of the export competiveness of software industry in Vietnam together with the causes for such weaknesses.

- The thesis has analyzed and pointed out the opportunities and challenges for the Vietnam’s software industry in the context of international economic integration and the upcoming industry revolution 4.0.

- The thesis has proposed 7 solutions and 5 recommendations in order to enhance export competitiveness for the software industry in Vietnam. The solutions for Vietnamese government are: enhancing the capacity for software industry, developing the human resources in software industry, attracting the FDI in software industry, investing to upgrade the IT parks, improving the govern mechanism and policy for software export, enhancing the efficiency of the copy right and cyber security, and enhancing the role of Vietnamese diasporas. The recommendations for software enterprises are: determining the suitable software export strategy, improving the quality management, developing the labor forces, increasing the international cooperation, investing in R&D and Marketing.
