11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:

- Theoretically:

  • Overview of research works of authors at home and abroad related to the thesis are up-to-date and selected in accordance with research content;
  • The thesis has partially systematized the theoretical and practical basis on the quality of medical examination and treatment services and clarified the view on improving the quality of medical examination and treatment services in the market mechanism;
  • The thesis contributes to clarifying and adding to the theoretical basis on quality management models, standards and criteria systems for assessing the quality of health services in the health system in general.
- Practically:
  • The thesis has assessed the situation of improving the quality of medical examination and treatment services in relation to the quality of medical examination and treatment services and improving the quality of services at the central hospitals in Hanoi;
  • The thesis proposes some ideas and solutions to improve the quality of examination and treatment services at the central hospitals.

12. Practical applicability

  • International experiences in the thesis on the health system in general and quality improvement of health services in particular can be used as a reference in developing policies, systems, and hospital management procedures for Vietnamese hospitals;
  • The proposed solutions of the thesis aiming at improving the quality of medical examination and treatment services at the central hospitals are the policy reference for the development of the Vietnamese health system to meet the increasing demand for high quality of medical examination and treatment services in general, and for health services in particular and progress toward international integration.

13. Further research directions

The PhD candidate is expected to further investigate a number of issues at the macro level such as strategy development, competitiveness and related policies for public hospitals’ health services in a market economy.
