On 3 days 21-22 and 23 June 2017, Faculty of Banking and Finance, University of Economics and Business, VNU in collaboration with International Finance Corporation (IFC, World Bank), Center for Risk Management Studies (CRMS) in Indonesia organized short course training of Coporate Governance at Head Office of Deposit Insurance of VN, HCMC Branch. Attending the training courses are bank leaders from banks such as BIDV, MB, DongA, Lien Viet and full-time officers from Deposit Insurance of Vietnam, the State Bank of Vietnam, Bureau of Banking Supervision in Ho Chi Minh City and Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange.
The training course is designed to consist of 3 intensive courses: (i) Effective board, (ii) Control environment and information disclosure in banking governance, and (iii) Risk management. The course has received teaching and experience sharing from experienced national and international experts in corporate governance and risk management: Ms. Lyeal Salvas, director of corporate governance IFC, Mr. Phan Duc Hieu, Deputy Director of Central Institute for Economic Management, Ms. Ly Xuan Thu and Dr. Pham Le Thu Nga, IFC Corporate Governance Consultant, Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong Thuy, expert in internal control and auditing, National Economics University, Associate Professor Tran Thi Thanh Tu, Dean of Banking and Finance, University of Economics and Business, VNU and Mr. Antuious Alijioyo, Director of CRMS, Indonesia, partner of IFC Southeast Asia. The course shared the best international practices on the roles, duties and responsibilities of the Board of Directors, the difference between the leadership function of the Board of Directors and the management function of the Board of Directors, The principles and models of internal control within the bank, the experience building risk management model in banks from levels of the Board. With the exchange method, group discussions, experience sharing and role play, the course really attracted the active participation of the participants.
Discussion and team working
This is the third series of training courses on Corporate Governance organized by the Faculty of Banking and Finance, University of Economics and Business, VNU in collaboration with International Finance Corporation on the basis of MOU signed since 2015. The series of training courses received the appreciation of the participants with over 90% of the participants who were very satisfied. Trainees will continue to be consulted and discussed with experts after the course on the application of the knowledge learned through the website of the program Master of Financial Institution Management (http: // qttctc .edu.vn).

The short-term training program for bank leaders and financial institutions is a product of the Corporate Governance Research Program in Banking in Vietnam and ASEAN countries led by Associate Professor Tran Thi Thanh Tu with the participation of strategic partners such as IFC, CRMS Indonesia, UK Lincoln Business School, Deposit Insurance of Vietnam and State Bank of Vietnam.
